Pastel Artist's Statement
My pastel work is influenced by the impressionists who used saturated color, texture and pointillism. I paint all kinds of landscapes, including seashores and coasts as well as desert geography. Most of my paintings are done employing classical techniques and I have attended workshops by some of the leading pastelists practicing today. However, some of my paintings are also experimental and include more abstract compositions, experimentation with color theory and mosaic effects.
